Anna P. (Sciacca) Rando passed away at the Golden Living Center Elmhurst Nursing Home in Melrose on February 17, 2012. She was 91 years of age. Anna was born in Watertown on May 23, 1920 to the late Cristostomo & Jennie (Carra) Sciacca. She was raised in Watertown and Somerville and graduated from Somerville High School Mrs. Rando has been a resident of Melrose since 1957. Anna worked as a payroll clerk for over 50 years at New England Carbide Company in Peabody and Topsfield, retiring at the age of 84. Anna enjoyed knitting, crocheting, needle point and loved taking trips to Foxwoods. Mrs. Rando was the wife of the late Charles Rando. Loving mother of Janet A. Rando-Higgins & her husband Edward of Melrose and Charlene J. Rando-Zanellis & her husband Christopher of NH. Devoted grandmother of Edward Higgins Jr., Rachel, Trevor, Mathew & Jennie Zanellis. Cherished great grandmother of Liam X. Emerson Higgins. Sister-in-law of Concetta Rando of Lynn. Also survived by many loving nieces, nephews and grandnieces & grandnephews A graveside service was held at Wyoming Cemetery on Sylvan St. in Melrose on Monday February 20, 2012. Memorial contributions may be made to the Little Sisters of the Poor or to an animal shelter of your choice.
